Michael J. Svigel (ThM, PhD, Dallas Theological Seminary) is department chair and professor of theological studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he teaches courses in both theology and church history. He has written numerous books from science-fiction novels to academic monographs.

Michael J. Svigel (ThM, PhD, Dallas Theological Seminary) is department chair and professor of theological studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he teaches graduate and doctoral courses in both systematic theology and historical theology, wiht an emphasis on the theology of the early church. He is the author of The Fathers on the Future: A 2nd-Century Eschatology for the 21st-Century Church (Hendrickson, 2024) and The Story of the Future: The Hopeful Narrative of God's Coming Kingdom (Hendrickson, 2027). He has also written, coauthored, or edited numerous books from science fiction novels to academic monographs.

Besides teaching both historical and systematic theology at Dallas Theological Seminary, Dr. Michael J. Svigel (ThM, PhD, Dallas Theological Seminary) is actively engaged in teaching and writing for a broader Christian audience. His passion for a Christ-centered theology and life is coupled with a penchant for humor, music, and science fiction. Dr. Svigel began teaching full time at Dallas Seminary after working for several years in the legal field as well as serving as a writer with the ministry of Insight for Living. His books and articles range from text-critical studies to popular theology to science-fiction and fantasy novels. His most popular titles include The Fathers on the Future: A 2nd-Century Eschatology for the 21st-Century Church (Hendrickson, 2024), an academic articulation and defense of premillennial eschatology; The Story of the Future: The Hopeful Narrative of God's Coming Kingdom (Hendrickson, 2027), an accessible study of eschatology; Essentials of Christian Theology: Foundations of the Christian Faith (with Nathan Holsteen) (Bethany House, 2025), a popular-level introduction to Christian theology; and The AItheist Cycle (The AItheist, The AItheist 2.0, and The AItheist 3.0), a trilogy of theology-infused science fiction novellas. He and his wife, Stephanie, a native of Germany, have three adult children, Sophie, Lucas, and Nathan and live in Texas.
